Why Kheir?

Kheir Family Medicine Residency Program offers residents hands-on clinical training paired with meaningful community impact, set in the heart of Metro Los Angeles. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), Kheir immerses residents in a linguistically and culturally diverse patient population, giving them exposure to complex, high-need clinical scenarios while building the cultural competence and leadership skills essential to becoming a compassionate, well-rounded physician. 

  • Three-year curriculum spanning outpatient, inpatient, obstetrics, pediatrics, emergency medicine, geriatrics, and more across four training sites

Curriculum

The Kheir FMRP is grounded in immersive, hands-on learning, and a strong commitment to serving underserved communities. During the three year program, the residents build clinical expertise, cultural competence, and leadership skills essential for thriving as compassionate, lifelong family physicians.

Residents participate in a wide range of scheduled rotations across diverse healthcare settings. Each rotation is structured to develop core competencies in family medicine while fostering independent decision-making and collaborative care.

Resident Salary

  • PGY-1 Salary: $75,000
  • PGY-2 Salary: $78,000
  • PGY-3 Salary: $81,120
  • Annual Stipend: $800 for CME, conferences, board exams, scholarly activities, and educational materials

Combined Paid Time Off

Our residency program follows the guidelines set by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Each resident receives a total of 2 weeks vacation, 10 paid holidays, and 6 sick days. These days are designated to support resident well-being by promoting mental and physical health.

Kheir Wilshire Clinic

Kheir Wilshire Clinic

Situated on a prime corner in Koreatown’s commercial district, Kheir’s Wilshire Clinic 100 and Wilshire Clinic 120 locations serve as the primary training sites for residents completing outpatient rotations. The multilingual team of medical professionals at these locations provide primary care, dental, optometry, and behavioral health services to a diverse patient population, while the Kheir Pharmacy in Suite 110 offers convenient access to prescription medications, all under one roof. 

   Kheir-S. Mark Taper Foundation Community Clinic

Kheir-S. Mark Taper Foundation Community Clinic

Less than a mile away from the Wilshire Clinic sites, the Kheir-S. Mark Taper Foundation Community Clinic is Kheir’s original clinic location, providing one-stop access to primary care, behavioral health, and human services since 2006. At this clinic, residents will not only complete additional outpatient rotations but will also actively participate in community outreach activities hosted onsite, creating opportunities for connection and the cultivation of relationships with patients and local residents.

CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center

CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center

CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center (HPMC) was one of the first hospitals established in Los Angeles, opening its doors to the community in 1924. Today, HPMC has evolved into a 434-bed acute care facility with more than 500 physicians representing nearly every specialty. HPMC serves as the primary training site for residents completing inpatient rotations, providing valuable, hands-on experience with a variety of disciplines, including emergency medicine, critical care, and surgery.

MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital

MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital in Long Beach is a major regional center for pediatric and women’s health, serving families across Southern California. As one of the few free‑standing children’s hospitals in the state, it offers a dedicated, child‑friendly environment supported by modern facilities, specialized care teams, and a strong commitment to community health. Located on the Long Beach Memorial campus, the hospital provides a welcoming, collaborative setting that reflects the diverse needs of the surrounding community and supports high‑quality, family‑centered care.
